Editorial and testing policy

These rules are enforced in our publishing system as hard gates, not aspirations. A page that violates them does not build.

Every statement about safe temperatures, storage times, the danger zone, cooler or thermos holding, and allergens must cite USDA, FSIS, FDA, CDC or foodsafety.gov, with the exact page linked in the Sources section. Our build system rejects safety claims that lack an approved source. We write general guidance, not individualized or medical advice; readers with higher-risk situations (pregnancy, immune compromise) should rely on the official sources we link.

A recipe on this site is marked as cook-tested only when a real, named person prepared it and the test record (who, when, what was verified) is on file. Until then the recipe stays in draft or carries a visible development-status note, and words that imply testing are blocked by our build system. There are no invented chefs, dietitians or reviewers here; content is published under the On The Go Foods Editorial Team byline, and any named tester is a real person.

Nutrition facts appear only after a per-ingredient calculation from USDA FoodData Central entries, with the method and entry IDs recorded. If the calculation has not been done, the nutrition block says so instead of showing numbers. Cost-per-serving figures use real, dated grocery prices, or they are not shown.

Illustrations and diagrams are our own. An AI-generated or stylized image is never presented as a photo of a dish we actually cooked. Real dish photos appear only alongside a matching test record.

Pages show their published, updated and, where applicable, reviewed dates. If we get something wrong, we fix the page and note the change. You can reach us via the contact page.
